According to Shakespeare music is the food of love, something that binds people together. All of us sing in the bath, or the shower or the car.
And then there are message songs, songs of strength and defiance, songs meant to highlight the iniquities in life…
And then there is the one from the heart.
Almost a year ago Andrew John Teague began a Facebook page along with a group of like-minded people to tell the world about Parental Alienation, the psychological twisting of a child into showing fear, disrespect or hostility towards a parent or other family members.
Even Anthony Douglas, chief executive of the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass), has warned against the danger of “parental alienation”.
He said the deliberate manipulation of a child by one parent against the other has become so common in family breakdowns that it should be dealt with like any other form of neglect or child abuse.
Andrew and his colleagues launched D.A.D.S (dads against double standards) https://www.facebook.com/groups/1720744094852341/ without fanfare – and victims of Parental Abuse – many of whom had been suffering in silence, facing the anguish of loss and guilt alone – started to stand up and be counted. Now D.A.D.S has tens of thousands of members.
Here at the consumerwatchfoundation.com we support D.A.D.S and many other groups battling to put parents back in touch with their children, those who want to heel the rift which can happen in almost any of the 120,000 divorces involving children in the UK each year.
We came across this short video by Andrew, from South Wales, who was moved to song to express his feelings about how people’s lives are put on hold while the fight to be with their children again continues …
This really is one from the heart …
